Jean Gillis is a Certified Senior ChiRunning Coach, USA Triathlon (USAT) Level 2 Coach, Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) Holistic Health Coach, and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Personal Trainer. She began competing in endurance events in 2007, and is a two-time Ironman triathlete, ultra distance trail runner and marathoner. As a USAT Certified Triathlon Coach for the past eleven years, she has coached hundreds of triathletes, from sprint to Ironman, to the triathlon finish line. Since her certification as a ChiRunning instructor in 2017, she has been training athletes to use this technique to run more efficiently, and without injury. She works with age-group (non-elite) athletes of all ages who are new to running or triathlon, or who are taking on a new distance. In recent years, she has had the pleasure of training members of the MA Army National Guard in the ChiRunning technique, run training, and mental tactics for the Army physical fitness run test. Jean believes that training for sports is an analogy for life. The skills that you develop through training can help you to perform better in all aspects of your life. In addition to the technical knowledge that she provides, she draws on her health coaching education to assist athletes in finding balance in areas that are outside of training but that strongly influence it; such as work/relationship stress, poor eating habits, and overbooked schedules.
